BEST MUSIC VIDEOS - WEEK 13 2015

3/28/15

YouTube’s Music Awards have spawned a TON of great music videos this week that makes it feel like you’re back in the days when people actually cared about the VMAs (or if you’re like me, you still care…even though they haven’t been good in years). FKA Twigs, Shamir, and newcomer LunchMoney Lewis have some seriously great new videos to check out, while there’s also some that will leave you wondering what the hell you just watched. So get comfortable and read on-- or watch on, which I guess is the more appropriate phrase in this case, as we bring you the best videos of the week!

FKA TWIGS - GLASS & PATRON

FKA Twigs’ video for her newest single “Glass & Patron” starts off with quite the bang. A pregnant-looking FKA Twigs ends up giving birth to a beautifully colored scarf (#art), and before you know it you’re watching dancers prance down a fashion runway in the middle of the woods and it’s oddly super captivating. Awesome song and awesome video!

ACTION BRONSON FEAT. CHANCE THE RAPPER - BABY BLUE

Action Bronson and Chance The Rapper pay tribute to the 1988 Eddie Murphy movie Coming to America in their video for their Mark Ronson-produced single, “Baby Blue.” It’s a ridiculous but entertaining video, especially during Chance’s part at the 3:40 mark where there’s literal interpretations of his lyrics (my favorite being “I hope your tits all saggy in your early 20’s”).

SHAMIR - CALL IT OFF

Disco-pop artist Shamir has an awesomely imaginative new video for his single “Call It Off.” The video begins with Shamir working in a fashionable clothing store, and before you know it he and his fellow co-workers transform into muppets (and apparently the puppets came from Jim Henson Studios so it’s pretty legit!). The song by itself is a pretty catchy track, but along with the video, it’s a totally fun and colorful music video you’ll end up watching more than once.

HOW TO DO CHICAGO FOOTWORK

King Charles and Pause Eddie show off their skills in a video showcasing some Chicago Footwork “basics” (“basics” is in quotes because…this shit looks pretty advanced if you ask me!). My personal favorite is around the 1:20 mark called “Skates.” It’s okay…we won't laugh at you trying to attempt these moves.

SK!TZ BEATZ FEAT. FOOTSIE & JOHNNY DOLLAR - WARRIOR

SK!TZ Beatz has teamed up with Footsie and Johnny Dollar on the politically charged single “Warrior.” The track itself is pretty intense, so you can only imagine that the accompanying video would be as well. It features tons of apocalyptic and some disturbing images, but it makes for a pretty cool video.

SOKO - TEMPORARY MOOD SWINGS

French singer SoKo is one of our favorites here at BitCandy, and we’re totally loving the awesomely retro VHS-style video for her single, “Temporary Mood Swings.” The video is simply SoKo and her band messing around at a car wash while wet and soapy shenanigans ensue.

INSANE CLOWN POSSEE - MIRACLES

Yeah we know, ICP’s infamous single “Miracles” is a few years old now, but we just felt the need to relive the amazing and thought-provoking video. The video is full of green screen goodness, taking Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope across the universe as they experience tons of miracles and question the science of magnets.

ROBOCOP SHOOTING A BUNCH OF DICKS

This may not be a music video, but the people over at Fail Win put together a rather creative “deleted scene” from the classic film Robocop. We urge you to watch at least a half way through to see some horrible people’s dicks (literally) get shot off. So. Not much more to say about that.

KEITH APE - IT G MA

Japanese and Korean rap music comes together on Keith Ape’s track “It G Ma.” He teamed up with JayAllday, Loota, Okasian, and Kohn on this solid hip-hop track. The video features them drinking and hanging out in a hotel (?) while images periodically flash on the screen.

LUNCHMONEY LEWIS - BILLS

New artist LunchMoney Lewis has a super catchy debut single called “Bills” that’s about the mundane and necessary fact of life—bills. As he sings “I’ve got mouths I’ve gotta feed/ So I’m gonna make sure everybody eats,” you see him taking part in a bunch of everyday neighborhood situations that makes for a super cute and entertaining video. I'm excited to see what he does next!

And that does it for now! Hope you enjoyed vegging out on this week’s eye candy.
