BEST MUSIC VIDEOS: WEEK 37

9/17/17

With so many new videos coming out each week, we’ve helped narrow it down to the best ones you definitely need on your radar. Here’s our favorite videos of the week below.

GHOSTED - GET SOME FT. KAMILLE

This video is full of twists and turns to say the least. Starting out with a young girl running through the woods bleeding and panting, I thought this video was going to be intense. Suddenly, the scene switches to a high school football team followed by a steamy make-out session. But believe me, this video definitely escalates with its dark humor.

HARRY STYLES - THE CHAIN (FLEETWOOD MAC COVER)

Harry Styles blew us away with his powerhouse performance of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain” in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. The rasp and soul in his voice take this cover the extra mile. It’s not easy to cover the legends, but Harry Styles definitely did it much justice.

RUDIMENTAL - SUN COMES UP FEAT. JAMES ARTHUR

You don’t need to spend millions to get an amazing video, and Rudimental’s “Sun Comes Up” is definitely one example of that. The beautifully minimalistic video captures a strong message of hope and faith. The scenery is the perfect fit as James Arthur sings, “suddenly the sun comes up and I feel my love floodin' back again…”

MINELLI - EMPTY SPACES

Switching between dreamy underwater visuals and sunlit forests, this video follows the story of a young girl searching for a place to hide in empty spaces. With lyrics like, “sometimes you search for places trying to find out who you are,” I think this video symbolizes the way one may try to find oneself externally and comes up empty, because the answers are within.

PHARRELL - HAPPY (PUPPY & DOGGY VERSION)

Okay, so maybe this wasn’t Pharrell’s official music video for “Happy,” but it definitely should’ve been. I mean, look at how cute and happy these puppers are. They are definitely the dictionary definition of “happy.”

CHARLOTTE CARDIN - MAIN GIRL

As Charlotte Cardin is alone crying in the middle of nowhere pouring her heart out, you can’t help but feel her pain. No one likes to feel like they come second, and no one likes to put it all out there only to feel shut down. The vulnerability and simplicity in this video just makes her emotion that much more intense.

CYNDI LAUPER - GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN

Fun fact: this classic video was made with just under $36,000 with a mostly volunteer cast, including Lauper’s real mother. If you haven’t seen this video already, it’s exactly what you’d expect— Cyndi Lauper dancing around having the time of her life. After all, girls just want to have fun, right?

JESSIE REYEZ - GREAT ONE

Jessie Reyez gets vulnerable in her deeply personal music video filmed in Colombia. On Instagram, she wrote, “This piece literally has my everything in it. It has my roots. It speaks of family. It speaks of life and death. It speaks of God.” Feel a part of her emotional journey in “Great One.”

DUA LIPA X GALLANT - TEARS DRY ON THEIR OWN

spotify Amy Winehouse would definitely be proud of Dua Lipa and Gallant’s soulful cover of “Tears Dry On Their Own.” Filmed in one take at NRG Recording Studios in Los Angeles, the duo sound absolutely flawless together. Definitely am needing more from them both.
