BEST NEW INDIE POP: ROME FORTUNE - JADED

ROME FORTUNE is back continuing his Beautiful Pimp series (the last installment was way back in 2014) with the first single off of Beautiful Pimp 3, “Jaded.” The track is produced by C.Z., and it’s a fiery mix of electronic and hip-hop elements that will keep you coming back for repeat listens again and again. The Atlanta-based artist has a knack for blending hard hitting verses over intricate electronics which always makes for a solid listening experience that always keeps us coming back.

Things kick off with wonky and hypnotic electronics that have you sucked in instantly. After about 30 seconds in, menacing bass synths and a ticking and winding beat kicks up the vibe before going into the smooth-grooving flow of the chorus at the 1:00 mark. “I don’t need to know that you faded/ I don’t need to know that you made it/ maybe it’s just me and I’m jaded/ at the bank like thanks we gon’ make it” he delivers over bubbling and hazy electronics. As the track fades out towards its ending, he repeats the line “we are not the same/ we are not the same,” as things become more and more twisted. All in all, it’s a solid and hard-hitting track that we’re totally loving here at The Guard.

According to his SoundCloud page, Beautiful Pimp 3 doesn’t have a set release date just yet but it’s “coming soon” and we can’t wait.
