Digitalism’s “Voltage” is a barn-burner. If the barn burner is seven hundred years in the future and robots have taken over the world and the only reason barns even still exist is for robots to burn them down in rage and revelry. This track, from the legends of the scene Digitalism, offers a symbiotic mix of harsh and funky that this act has been known for since they first started out blurring the lines of punk rock and electro.  Don’t know how to dance? Doesn’t matter.  “Voltage” will command your body to move in strange ways with it’s buzzing bassline, beautifully light synths and repetitive robotic refrain. At two and a half minutes this one is a dance floor weapon for anybody that wants to shock their audience into digital submission.

Digitalism has started to age like a fine wine into the elder statesmen of electro. The German duo has been rocking the modular synthesizers for almost fifteen years, creating anthems that still can work a crowd into a frenzy today. “Pogo,” “2 Hearts,” and “Zdarlight” are easily amongst the greatest dance records of all time. But, refusing to rest on their laurels and just playing the hits, Jence and Isi have been in the studio banging out a series of EPs that can stand up to any of their original classics. 2019 has heralded in the release of Chapter 1 and Chapter 4, two-track releases from Magnetism that show major versatility and scope. Chapter 4 feels like the start of something much bigger, and we here at We Are: The Guard are majorly amped to see where this is headed. Plus what the hell are Chapters 2 and 3 going to sound like? Or are we going to skip right to chapter 17?

From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
