BEST NEW SONGS: ARIZONA - CROSS MY MIND

You’ve gotta love the backstory of New Jersey trio A R I Z O N A (these dudes create their songs in a mobile study they made out of an old Toyota), and their music is even better. Their latest offering, “Cross My Mind,” has the feel of an instant pop classic. This coming on the heels of “I Was Wrong,” a track with over 16 million streams, and you begin to realize that A R I Z O N A is a band on the verge of taking over 2016.

“Cross My Mind” is another song about a tarnished relationship that feels like it would fit in perfectly on a collection of 80’s pop ballads. In fact, there’s an immediate familiarity to this cut, as if it’s just one of those ones you’ve always known. In a statement about the song, the band had this to say: “Music allows us to be comfortable with our imperfections, and ‘Cross My Mind’ is a song that captures the dichotomy of our nature versus our intentions.”
