BEST NEW SONGS: CHELSEA EFFECT - GOOD ENOUGH

11/23/15

Chelsea Effect is a new band who takes its name from the famous Brooklyn Hotel. Yes, that Chelsea Hotel. Or the name comes from the famous essay by playwright Arthur Miller (Death of a Salesmen, The Crucible, other stuff you were supposed to read in school but never did) The Chelsea Affect, which is also about said hotel. So either way the name comes from the hotel.

Regardless, Chelsea Effect is the project of Canadian-born, Venice-based artist Emeralda Isabella, who enlisted sometime Beck and Twin Shadows producer Bram Inscore to help her with her debut single, "Good Enough."

Despite an obvious pre-occupation with 60’s pop culture, “Good Enough” is a forward-thinking pop song. Driven by dark synth and some irresistible, soaring vocals from Ms. Isabella, the song is an anthem to all scorned lovers. “You gave me all your darkness, I turned it into light. You gave me all your sadness, I turned it into sight,” she sings on the songs bridge. Yet that still wasn’t good enough for whatever jokester thought they were going to do better. After hearing this triumphant bit of electro-pop, I bet whomever it’s written about feels like a real dumb jerk.

You can find “Good Enough” on Soundcloud and Spotify, but as of writing there is no way to buy or download the song. Look for that to change here shortly.
