BEST NEW TRACKS: LAWRENCE ROTHMAN - USERS

12/14/15

In a very short time, Lawrence Rothman has already reached must-see status with his music videos. The latest entry, “USERS,” once again proves that he’s as much a visual artist as he is a singer-songwriter, and dude is pretty good at both of his jobs.

Directed by Floria Sigismondi, “USERS” is actually a trailer of sorts for a longer piece she and Rothman are working on, as he explained in a statement to Dummy Mag:

“It is a snapshot of a larger long form piece Floria, and I are creating around my Alters. This scene highlights a moment of two people being unaware of who they really are and a deeper pain that needs to get exorcised.”

The video co-stars Bitcandy favorite SOKO, and takes place in the Joshua Tree hotel room where country star Graham Parsons overdosed and died in 1973. And while this is good, I think it would have been better to make this video a mashup with "Montauk Fling" and have Rothmans dress like Elizabeth Taylor again. But it’s ok in its own right too. Check it out below:

Rothman’s debut LP is due out early next year on Downtown Records. Until then head over to Soundcloud and stream his 24 HOUR CHURCH mixtape.
