Best Videos: The National Tiny Desk Concert

6/13/13

We've been all about The National around these parts as of late. So for anyone who's been paying attention, it should come as no surprise that we think the Tiny Desk Concert they did for NPR is a best new videos?

While a stripped-down show in an intimate environment may expose the flaws of some arena rock bands, for The National it helps illuminate how layered their music is. You can hear and sometimes see all the moving parts that are involved in songs that on the surface seem simplistic. About the only negative thing I can say about this is that I would have liked to hear the drums a little more, but such is the hazard of unplugged shows. And while it's noticeable that lead singer Matt Berninger's voice had yet to recover from the previous nights show, I still enjoyed it. This concert is certainly worth 18 minutes of your time.

Enjoy the The National's Tiny Desk Concert. (Spoiler Alert: NPR Employees look exactly like you'd expect them to.)

For those of you who haven't been listening to nothing but Trouble Will Find Me for the past few weeks and can recognize each song within a few seconds, I've included a set list below:

This Is the Last Time
I Need My Girl
Pink Rabbits
Sea of Love

(Yes, they also showed the name of the song on the screen, but I didn't need that shit.)

Thanks for stopping by Bitcandy, home of all things The National (apparently).
