Best Songs Ever: Supergrass 'Alright'

As soon as you hear those staccato piano chords rip open Supergrass's “Alright,” are you not immediately transported back to a better, breezier place?
This omnipresent Brit-pop anthem - which front man, Gaz Coombes, claims is as an ode to “being 13 or 14 and just discovering girls and drinking” - is lifted from Supergrass' debut album, I Should Coco (Cockney rhyming slang for "I should think so,” to you Yanks). In 1995, “Alright” charted at #2 in the UK (and the teen canticle has never left the country's airwaves since).
This song featured in the films Clueless, The Men Who Stare At Goats and Astro Boy, and its summer chimes have used to advertise everything from TVs to Disneyland to cheese spread...
The legendary video features Supergrass larking about on bicycles and a big, motorized bed (which is officially on BitCandy's Christmas list). After seeing the promotional clip, the film director, Steven Spielberg, asked the band if they would be interested in starring in a television series similar to The Monkees...
...Supergrass turned him down.

Plagued by their “one-hit wonder” status, Supergrass rarely played this song live, but they nevertheless treated the Glastonbury Festival crowd to it in 2004 – six years before their split:
