Best of Indie - Week 13 2012

3/29/12

BitCandy's Latest Music Tracks and Best of Indie – Week 13! Comin' at ya faster than Madonna can say "insert joke about drugs here." This week's indie register includes Trust, Sigur Rós, Japandroids, The Flaming Lips and Bon Iver, to name a humble few hipsters...

Trust "Bulbform" / "Dressed For Space"

Ever since we watched them rip up SXSW a couple of weeks back, we have had Trust's debut album, TRST, on some serious repeat. The record fuses contemporary lo-fi-lectronica with 80s goth-rock, and you can check out two cuts, the moody "Bulbform" and the trance-heavy "Dressed For Space" below.

Saint Saviour "Midnight City (M83 Cover)"

No doubt about it, M83's "Midnight City" was the sickest dancefloor smash of 2011. But in the words of Monty Python - now for something completely different. Here is a super lush, super laid back reinterpretation from Saint Saviour. Think Kate Bush, circa-The Dreaming, mixed up with our gurl, Grimes.

The Flaming Lips and Bon Iver "Ashes In The Air"

The Flaming Lips drop collaborative vinyl, The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends, on April 21st  - aka music's ultimate capitalist holiday, Record Store Day! Here is Lips' droney duet with Bon Iver, "Ashes In The Air." Everybody now! "Youuuu and me! We're both so fucked upppp!"

Sebastien Tellier "Cochon Ville" (The Magician Remix)"

The Magician has just unveiled this throbbing, extra-grimy remix of Sébastien Tellier's radiant new jam, Cochon Ville.

Sigur Ros "Ekki Mukk"

Sigur Rós will complete defrostation on May 28th, the day they release their sixth studio album, Valtari. "Ekki Múkk" is the LP's mesmerizing lead single. Jónsi's milquetoast (< our new favorite word) voice is caressed by crescendo strings and the entire thing is topped off with a seasoning of crackle and pop. Warning: It may send you into a deep reverie!

Moonface "Headed For The Door"

Moonface (aka Spencer Krug) is backed by Finnish krautrockers, Siinaii, on his new album, With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery, which drops April 17th on Jagjaguwar. At eight minutes long, album cut, "Headed For The Door," is a slow-burning drone-epic.

Florence and the Machine "Never Let Me Go (Clams Casino Remix)"

Florence and the Machine's "Never Let Me Go" is the latest track to have been given the Clams Casino once over. Room-filling, dripping-wet reverb, moody, muted percussion – yeh, you know the drill.

Japandroids "The House That Heaven Built"

HOLY FUCKING SHIT! JAPANDROIDS ARE BACK! AND THEY ARE FUCKING LOUD! TAKEN FROM CELEBRATION ROCK, OUT JUNE FUCKING 5TH. FUCK!
