TOP INDIE POP SONGS - WEEK 4 2014

1/22/14

In case you’re wondering why everyone on your news feed is talking about the latest ‘Wrecking Ball’ cover, BitCandy’s got your back. I’ll put the link to the Ron Jeremy video below. Caution: full of raunch with extra toppings of raunch sprinkles and it’s so NSFW. And because we know you’re going to need an ear enema after the suggested video, we’ve gathered the top indie pop songs of the week. If you don’t feel immediate relief after the post, I suggest you repeat until the muscles around your pelvic region reactivate. Now scroll down and press play.

ALLERGIC TO LOVE - CHARLI XCX (SNUFFED BY THE YAKUZA)

Just when I thought I couldn’t love Charli XCX even more, she leaves me feeling like a deer caught in the headlights (excitedly surprised!). Now in case you did not know, I’m letting you know what you’re going to want to know about the alternative pop/punk/awesome princess Charlie XCX...she’ll be responsible for the future of #1 pop hits.

LORDE - TEAM (MICKEY VALEN REMIX)

Second time this month we feature New York producer Mickey Valen to the mix. And just as before, he adds warm light layers that make up a perfect dance track for a cold winter night.

ASGEIR COVERS MILEY CYRUS - ‘WRECKING BALL’ LIVE @Giel3FM

I promise this version is not as sweaty and hairy as the Ron Jeremy version, but it’s worth a spin. I caution you though, this is one cover that will leave gossies on your skin.

SCAVENGER HUNT - LOST

Speaking of things that make your skin feel good, imagine being dipped in a pool of peaches and cream. This is one of the most sweetest tracks I’ve heard in a while. Jill’s voices evoke a perfect laid back glitchy vibe. Love it.

DIPLO - REVOLUTION (FEAT. FAUSTIX & IMANOS AND KAI) [OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO]

What’s worse than having to write a think piece? Having to watch one. I don’t want to think and twerk. Moral of the story: live free die twerking.

MØ - DON’T WANNA DANCE (ZANE LOWE HOTTEST RECORD FIRST PLAY)

Perhaps one of the coolest chicks in the industry. She’s the kind of gal you’d want as company at a music festival. Mo is about about to drop her debut album come March 24th, 2013.

DUCK SAUCE - CALAMARI (PUT THE SAUCE ON IT)

Go on enjoy your tasty duck droppings. You don’t see much of these house tracks around here. Personally because these kind of tracks reminded me of that crazy drunken night in Mexico. Oh gawd the flash backs. But who am I to tell you what I don’t like.

AUTO BODY - TOO LATE FOR WORDS

I am an absolute fan of synth fuzz pop tracks. To keep it short is that Auto Body is an exciting prospect and worth keeping tabs on them.

ANGELO MOTA - GOOD LIFE (INTRO) (DJ BOOTH PREMIERE) [PROD. MAX LAZEN]

Never really sure where to put hip hop tuneage like this (perhaps a weekly hip hop roundup would work?) but Angelo Mota just turned us onto this on Twitter.

SAMSAYA - STEREOTYPE

Has this been up before? (3 months old) only just heard it & was hooked on her vibe; that's a pop hit right there.

LE YOUTH - DANCE WITH ME (GGFO REMIX)

Closing this week down with a perfect concoction of 90s and RnB from LA’s very own Le Youth. Sit back and let his vibes smother your face into a bowl of your fancy.

Thanks for hanging with us. As promised here’s the link for that video I was talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xljA6zJn4I. We’ll be back next week; until then, let us know what you think belongs on PopSmut.

About Beca Arredondo

Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests.  On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
