Happy Holidays friends! Please, please, please, celebrate safely. COVID-19 is once again on the rise here in LA, and while the vaccine is great news, we’re not quite out of the woods yet. 2021 is hopefully looking up though!

While the future is uncertain, one thing’s for sure: talented artists are still creating amazing work, and We Are: The Guard is here to share it with you. So, without further ado- the best indie pop releases of the week.

CHANNEL TRES FT. TYLER THE CREATOR - “FUEGO”

Channel Tres and Tyler the Creator do what they do best on their new Mingus-inspired track. Off of the new mixtape I Can’t Go Outside, “fuego” was the first song Channel Tres wrote for the project. “Fuego” is jazzy, danceable, and overall just really cool.

RENFORSHORT FT. MATEUS ASATO - “FEEL GOOD INC.”

If it wasn’t obvious, we really like renforshort and her cover of “feel good inc.” by Gorillaz featuring Mateus Asato on guitar only confirms that. With a fresh indie pop take, vocals and guitar are at the forefront.

SEB TORGUS + ARKADE - “LET ME DOWN”

New release “Let Me Down” isn’t the first time Seb Torgus and Arkade have collaborated, but it does further affirm their strength as a team. With dark production, clear vocals, and a driving beat, “Let Me Down” commands your attention.

BIA - “WHOLE LOTTA MONEY”

It’s been a big week for BIA. Not only did she drop an amazing new release, FOR CERTAIN, she also won the Boston Music Awards’ Artist of the Year award. “WHOLE LOTTA MONEY” feels like a victory lap.

SALEM ILESE - “MARRY CHRISTMAS”

Salem Ilese keeps the hits coming, and now brings us a festive one! On “Marry Christmas,” she explores the idea of marrying Christmas. The song is the lighthearted, future Christmas classic that we all needed this year.

ISAAC DUNBAR - “INTIMATE MOMENTS”

Alt-pop singer songwriter Isaac Dunbar has become known for his air-tight songs, and he does it again on “intimate moments.” His soaring voice is supported by big drums and a larger-than-life chorus.

LOOTE - “EXES”

The duo Loote has had a productive year despite the challenging circumstances COVID-19 has presented. Following the more serious singles “Pushing Daisies” and “Who You Are,” is the new release “Exes.” Reminiscent of The 1975, it’s melodically catchy, lyrically hard hitting, and belongs on all of your playlists!
