Hello dear We Are: The Guard readers. You ready to hold on tight to your headphones? I sure hope so because it’s time to dive right into another weekly dose of the Best Indie Pop Songs. Yep, we’ve curated another list for your enjoyment and enlightenment. Give the below a listen and as always … if you dig what you hear give the artists below some support by showing them your love. This week we’re featuring Dominic Fike.

DOMINIC FIKE - CANCEL ME

Dominic Fike reaches out to his little sister for directorial help for his “Cancel Me” video. And this was perhaps a great choice for a song that makes Fike look like he’s toying with listeners. Do you really think Fike wants to be canceled?! I’m pretty sure that is a definitive NOPE.

LAUV - LOVE SOMEBODY

We are all craving human touch. To hug, to feel, to wrap your arms around someone other than yourself … oh what we would give. Lol anywho … LAUV has captured this epic moment in history with his single “Love Somebody.”

BEYONCE, SHATTA WALE, MAJOR LAZER - ALREADY

Please do not continue reading this post if you haven’t seen Black Is King.” Pffft like where were you and what was more important than watching the queen grace us with her wisdom and talent?

AMINE - COMPENSATION FEAT YOUNG THUG

When you break up with your boo the best thing you could do is kick it in style with your friends in hope of keeping your mind off of your ex. This is what Aminé is compensating for. Let’s all rip a page from his playbook and enjoy a break up the Amine way. Except instead of pink baths for me and a match of tennis, I’m looking at floating around in a kiddie pool 3 inches deep.

PHOEBE BRIDGERS - I KNOW THE END

I think cloudrunner’s YouTube comment hit the nail on the head, “I think the symbolism behind Phoebe kissing the old woman is that Phoebe is embracing the inevitability of her own death and it’s so powerful and visceral.” Geez, Phoebe … this is good, really good.

TROY SIVAN - RAGER TEENAGER

Troy Sivan channels all hormonal teenagers. Rapid spikes in emotion leaves them in a pensive state. I know this because I hated my teenage years. Had Sivan existed during my years of rage I’m sure life would have been a bit calmer or at least be less crazy because I would have had his music sooth my wild spirit.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD - CHERRY FLAVOURED

This ain’t no upbeat sweet treat but rather a delicious summer bummer track that we can all get behind. “Cherry Flavoured” makes me want to go bum it at the beach in my bubble suit and watch people take a 50/50 chance on life by doing what used to be normal … like sitting on the sand, sharing solo cups, peeing in the ocean. You know ;)

QVEEN HERBY - SELF AWARE FEAT. DURAND BERNARR

Let me shake you up and wake you up. Qveen Herby is a must listen to. She may not be no Queen Bey but let me tell you something … this Qveen has got some killer bops. How do I describe “Self Aware” it’s a banger. It will leave you catching your breath and wanting more.

Be on the lookout daily for more of our human curated indie songs. The Best Of Indie Pop will be back next week with more audible gems. Stay safe!

New Song Course - Learn How to Write A Hit Song

Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
