INSTAGRAM WEED INFLUENCERS: BEST SONGS TO LISTEN TO FOR SMOKING WEED

4/19/19

We here at Weed Are: The Guard are proud to be California-USA, legal-as-the-day-it-was invented, pot smokers. Just about nothing goes better together than Marijuana and music. Or perhaps you prefer the combination of pot and pop, joints and jams, smoking to songs, I could keep going…

For as far back as anyone on our staff can possibly remember the two have unabashedly gone hand in hand. So we went out into the trenches of the internet and hollered at a couple of our favorite Instagram Weed Influencers and asked them:

What is your favorite banger to get baked to?

From MOMO, Jacqui Childs, Gypsy Ganja, Krisondra and Kitty Kitty Bang Bang we have pretty much every genre represented here. With Hip-Hop, Classic Rock, EDM and Indie Rock all proving their worth with a pot-smoking anthem.

Just one major question… where’s the Willie Nelson?

“Weed and music go together like apple pie and ice cream! I’ve been listening to Snoop Dogg, Black Sabbath and Alice In Chains since I was very young and having a good smoke sesh before, during and after listening make the experience just that much better. Snoop Dogg is the weed king and one of my favorite people (I’ve even got him tattooed on my leg)! When I’m trying to get pumped up or gain some confidence, a bowl and some Snoop is my go-to. When I’m trying to chill, there’s nothing better than some Black Sabbath and some dabs. Music and weed are best friends and certainly go hand in hand for me. Sending love and good vibes!”

“If you're familiar with Jefferson Airplane "White Rabbit" that's definitely the sound of my thoughts. The song’s very euphoric "low and slow" vibe, definitely the beat I walk to now. Unless it's before I give a "talk" or present or receive an award then I enter the room like I'm on stage with Queen! Check out the movie Bohemian Rhapsody.. and go high to get the full effect!

While getting high has been a very positive experience both mentally and physically, there was this one time early on I experienced what they call a "green out"  let's just say NOT GOOD! I over consumed an "infused" lunch (edibles can be dangerous). During said green out as my life flashed before me (for 4 hours) there was definitely a soundtrack. And although I'm a classic rock lover almost 100% of the time some of my faves were echoing loud and clear … The Sheepdogs, The Glorious sons, Wintersleep, Crownlands and July Talk.

When I'm high (which is 90% of the time) I enjoy not only listening to my faves but actually hearing them, feeling them. Their songs all have been part of my journey and my experience with cannabis. I know when they're writing the lyrics they have their own story in mind.
When I'm high I rewrite the story. I honestly can't think of a better pairing. Music and weed, well, maybe sex and weed.”

“My artist of choice I put on when I light up a blunt is Machine Gun Kelly. In his music, he talks a lot about smoking weed, and I mean A LOT of weed, yet he still manages to put in work and pursue his music career his way. His music also talks a lot about weed putting your mind in the right place and making you feel like you can do anything you work hard for, I love that he brings such a beautiful light to weed smoking.”

“I’d have to say one of my favorite artists to smoke and listen to is ODESZA. I happen to be somewhat of a spiritual person, so when it’s time to relax there’s nothin’ better than a good ol’ dab and some good tunes to set the mood. I remember the first dab I ever had, let’s just say the dominos menu was put to great use that night! Lol”

"I was hesitant to attempt finding words eloquent and consequential enough to define the significance, healing power and joy that I gain from music; exponentially so when infused with cannabis. The first thought that came to mind was a simple but sweet memory from my time as a musical theater major in college. It was only about a year and a half since I first became a daily cannabis consumer so my sensory intake and high were still at peak performance. The hour was "blunt:30", as it typically was in our home. My best friend and I sat on the living room floor playing Indie Folk artist Iron & Wine's “Woman King” on vinyl via a vintage record player. Classic records scattered at our feet, the record radiating sound quality only a record can produce and music & lyrics running through my veins as if mimicking the marijuana in my lungs. At that moment, the aesthetic was everything. At that moment, the music, the marijuana, and my friends were tangible."

Thanks for getting faded with us on this little listicle. If you read this (or listened to these songs) stone cold sober, thennnnn we’re gonna need you to go back, eat an edible, pop on your headphones and give them another play…. ON WEED.

From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
