BEST NEW TRACKS: LOWELL "CLOUD 69"

2/13/14

If you liked Lily Allen's "It's Hard Out Here for a Bitch" but wanted a feminist anthem with a little more noise and funk, then Lowell's banging best new track, "Cloud 69," is exactly what you're looking for.

As the lead single off the Toronto-based singer-songwriter/producer/video artist's debut EP, "Cloud 69" is a bit of raw energy that is sure to draw comparisons to the likes of M.I.A., Icona Pop, and Sky Ferreria. Lowell first appeared on a collaboration with the "super group" Apparatjik on If You Can, Solve This Jumble and since then has been steadily honing her craft. With a chorus that'll get you pumped up enough to run through a gawddamn brick wall, "Cloud 69" may just be the best song we've heard all year. We'd say this is a #badbitchalert, if bitch wasn't such a derogatory term.
