BEST NEW TRACKS: LUXXURY "PLANET EARTH"

7/2/14

I've always said that Duran Duran and Human Rights are practically synonymous, so I was probably the only person who saw LUXXURY's top new song,"Planet Earth," coming.

The Los Angeles-based DJ is just one of several artists covering the 80's megastars' hits for Making Patterns Rhyme: A Tribute to Duran Duran, along with Moby, Warpaint, Little Dragon, and others. The good folks at Manimal Records curated the disc, whose proceeds will go to Amnesty International. Good music for a great cause, can't get better than that, y'all.

If you're familiar with the Baron's previous works, you can probably guess what they do to "Planet Earth." They take the song's best moments and crank 'em up to 11. This 21st Century update on the classic track is more groovy and dancy than the original, while not altering its core. Hear it for yourself now.

If you're ever wondering how far society has progressed, watch the video below for Duran Duran "Planet Earth" and know that it was considered ground breaking a scant three decades ago. Or you could just watch it to compare it to the above cover. The choice is yours.
