All the Videos from Matt & Kim's New Album!

10/2/12

Since this is 2012 and most artists have more or less come to the conclusion that people are going to get their music for free, bands have begun to help their fans find free ways to listen to their music through a variety of mediums. Which brings us to what has to be one of the most unique Album Previews I've ever seen.

Matt and Kim released their new album, Lightning, today, and instead of giving it to NPR or Rolling Stone to stream, they made a music video for each song and posted it to youtube.

In order to pay proper tribute to this kickass idea that I really hope becomes a trend, I would like to bring you my humble two sentence review of each of these videos.

"Let's Go"

Some rad basketball skills on display. Read my review of the actual video here {http://www.bitcandy.com/plogs/plogDedicated/music/best-new-tracks-matt-a...}.

"Now"

(WARNING!!! THIS NEXT VIDEO CAN TRIGGER SEIZURES!!! I SHIT YOU NOT, I'VE COVERED THIS SHIT BEFORE!!!)

If you would just like to hear the song, here's the non-seizure youtube version:

Ok, now we're getting to the videos I have not previously seen or written about. This is where the actual commentary begins, and the linking ends. Let's get it on.

"Alright"

This video will not trigger seizures, but instead an intense craving for a breakfast cereal from your youth… Or maybe that's just me.

"Overexposed"‬

I don't even have the courage to dance like that when I'm alone and all the doors are locked. Kim Schifino is a new hero of mine.

"I Said"

In college I played a lot of ping pong, because that was where the babes were at (note: that was actually pretty fucking far from where the babes were at). This video made me hella nostalgic for that time… kinda.

"Tonight"

People are always calling me a hipster. My rebuttal: how much of a hipster could I be if I don't own any vinyl? (Seriously though, this video is great.)

"I Wonder"

A lovely, New York-centric video. Matt and Kim are from there, in case you didn't know.

"Much Too Late"

I'm fairly certain that Matt and Kim are only common law married. If they ever decide to have a ceremony, they now have the slideshow done.

"Not That Bad"

How does a person decide to become really good at origami? Ditto stop-motion video?

"Ten Dollars I Found"

Perfect album closer. Perfect singalong.

You can pick up Lightning over here‪.
