Last month, We Are: The Guard premiered Dog Orchestra’s latest single “Pity Party,” a brooding synth-pop track that made self-deprecation sound fun.

Now, premiering again on We Are: The Guard is the accompanying video from the Swedish group, and the visuals match the musical drapes. Take a first peek at the “Pity Party” video below and put on your dancing shoes while you’re at it:

“Pity Party” is a pop song meant to celebrate your flaws. Whether that hot take is a “glass half full” perspective or an “empty wine glass,” view is up to you — but undoubtedly, Dog Orchestra created a catchy track among their moping. It’s no wonder then that the video encapsulates the tongue-in-cheekiness of it all, and finds the beauty in its sadness. Misery loves company, after all.

We have Boiler Room vibes as we enter a Party of One that includes gloomy and surreal snapshots of hanging your weary head out of cars; of bedrooms that haven’t been cleaned in months; strobe lights painting the environment in doom — and popcorn. Lots and lots of popcorn. Wine and pizza as well while we’re at it.

Was this your vision of a Pity Party? The right people definitely showed up, but I expected just a teeny bit more alcohol.

But if nothing else, Dog Orchestra’s video juxtaposes those magical synths and bleary lyrics perfectly within their visuals.

“Pity Party” is the latest single for Dog Orchestra, and is available for streaming right here.
