NEW FINDS NEWSLETTER - WEEK 8

2/20/14

Ugh. Is it us, or is this month like, totally dragging? Summertime needs to hurry its sorry ass up, already! Or does it? Even then, all BitCandy is going to be doing is hiding in their bedroom, filtering through the blogosphere, and fapping on occasion too. But that's how we do, and without it, you wouldn't be able to listen to the real shit here for you today. Shout out to the Curators who helped us to discover this week's five New Finds. If you'd like to be a Curator, then keep on reading.

FAUL

faul

“Click, clack, clow!  I've got feeling you gluttonous music snobs are going to enjoy this one. If you haven't heard of FAUL before don't worry! You haven't fallen behind the hipster scene. The world will not point and laugh at you the next time you leave your cave, and you definitely shouldn't consider jumping out the window. Bitcandy's here to rescue you before the blogiverse explodes with news of this deep house Frenchman (read more...)”

WE THE WILD

we the wild

“We The Wild have been dubbed as the spiritual successors of Alt-J and Imagine Dragons, and their stunningly unique first four-track EP is a testament to that bold comparison. Ant West and Casey Roarty execute the intricate harmonies, simmering vocals & gentle harmonies with perfection, which makes their debut EP feel like a cross between the deserved climax of The Futures and a promising future for their new project (read more...)”

HOZIER

hozier

“Andew Hozier-Bryne was born on St. Patricks Day and comes to us from Ireland, so you can't really get any more Irish than that. Going by the stage name Hozier, this new artist is a singer-songwriter with a heavy soul and blues influence who is sure to be liked by fans of bands like the Black Keys or any of Jack White's projects. He recently released his four-song EP on Rubyworks records and it's definitely worth a listen (read more...)”

MOTHER MOTHER

mother mother

“A place that does understand some desolation and coldness = Canada, which might just be the reason that we are always getting good music from our northern siblings. Seriously, all of you please stay inside - drinking and smoking and creating these lovely tunes to grace our overly entitled ears. That goes the same for today's featured Canadian indie outfit, Mother Mother, brought to our attention by our curator, Meraki (read more...)”

YEO

yeo

“Today's featured artist is YEO. Not to be confused with a post-modern slang representation of the Kanye West's Yeezus album title. YEO, is a also not a combination of hip hop act Neo and the legendary English rock group Yes. YEO is not a cool new way to reference things of new age that have transpired as in 'Yeo-Classical-Contemporary...' YEO is actually standalone for Yo Everyone Out-there-should-listen-to-these-beats (read more...)”

About Jess Grant

When Jess Grant isn't writing on music, she can be found playing it – on her guitar, on her ukulele, and on her recently acquired mandolin. Playing it hideously, she ought to add. Jess also studies. She studies the English language, to be precise. Jess is currently on her way to a degree in the subject, and enjoys starting and never finishing novels, screenplays, and poetry in her spare time. She also likes dogs. Lots of dogs.
