SÉBASTIEN TELLIER OFFERS QUARANTINE ROMANCE ADVICE IN INDIE DANCE TUNE “STUCK IN A SUMMER LOVE”

6/5/20

We heard stories across the internet of couple’s shacking up for quarantine after one date, or a month, or five dates, or some unimaginably short amount of time (or at least for someone like me who’s not as prone to spontaneity). But we’re curious how it’s all working out. Consider us We Are: Cosmopolitan for this one and DISH. It’s been three months locked in a house together and I can only imagine that you’ve started to ask yourself if this is the real deal or not.

Many couples probably aren’t going to last much past pandemic, and some have definitely signed up for life, no takesy-backsies.

Either way, summer is coming and this feeling you’ve got inside is only going to get a whole hell of a lot more intense. Maybe now is the time to consider the *stuck* in Sébastien Tellier’s “Stuck in a Summer Love.” Are you happy about it? Glad to be stuck with this person, can’t wait to sweat that summer heat between the sheets? Or are you pulling out your hair at the prospect of another day together? Maybe it’s time to get the hell out before the heat waves really start to hit and you don’t have air conditioning and every little thing they do gets on your nerves.

Tellier does sound kind of sad about being so domesticated, doesn’t he? Or is it romantic?

Hmm...

SEBASTIEN TELLIER - STUCK IN A SUMMER LOVE

“Stuck in a Summer Love” is a song that’s going to become all the more clear to you as the summer progresses and things get heated. This song could either be the one you play at your wedding or one that makes you cry every time you hear. Somewhere between forlorn and for-sure.  I’m not going to pass judgment, that is for you to figure out for yourself.  Go ahead, sneak a glance at your partner while this one plays in headphones. How do YOU feel?

BIll Murray (Caddyshack, Space Jam) once said,

If you have someone that you think is The One, don’t just think in your ordinary mind, ‘Okay, let’s make a date, let’s plan this and make a party and get married.’ Take that person and travel around the world. Buy a plane ticket for the two of you to travel all around the world, and go to places that are hard to go to and hard to get out of. And if when you land at JFK and you’re still in love with that person, get married at the airport.

I think this applies to quarantine too (new rules in a new age now that travel for pleasure is severely ill-advised). If you’ve lasted these last three months and you last the next three after that and you STILL bring a smile to each other's face…why don’t you put a ring on it (if that kind of commitment is your thing).

If not, well We Are: The Guard and Mr. Tellier offer their sincerest apologies.

And yes, BIlly Murray COULD play Sébastien Tellier in a movie.  Good call.

From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
