Kraftwerk - Trans-Europe Express

7/23/12

Is Kraftwerk's “Trans-Europe Express” one of the Best Songs Ever to have been written about a European railway network?

Fuck yeh!

This is the title-track to Kraftwerk's sixth studio album, Trans-Europe Express, which dropped back in 1977. That's right, the year of punk - but screw you Never Mind the Bollocks, I'd choose a concept album about a railway over your three chords any day!

And if you missed out on tickets to Kraftwerk's recent MOMA residency (we did too, fuck!)...

Not content with being awesome on its lonesome, this track was responsible for another one of those Best Songs Ever - Afrika Bambaataa & the Soulsonic Force's "Planet Rock," which stripped a sample straight from "Trans-Europe Express."

Trans-Europe Express” Lyrics:

Trans-Europe Express
Trans-Europe Express
Trans-Europe Express
Trans-Europe Express
Trans-Europe Express
Trans-Europe Express
Trans-Europe Express
Trans-Europe Express
Rendezvous on Champs-Elysees
Leave Paris in the morning on T.E.E.
Trans-Europe Express
Trans-Europe Express
Trans-Europe Express
Trans-Europe Express
In Vienna we sit in a late-night cafe
Straight connection, T.E.E.
Trans-Europe Express
Trans-Europe Express
Trans-Europe Express
Trans-Europe Express
From station to station
back to Düsseldorf City
Meet Iggy Pop and David Bowie
Trans-Europe Express
Trans-Europe Express
Trans-Europe Express
Trans-Europe Express
