MMOTHS – PARA POLARIS

Irish ambient producer MMOTHS finds the beauty in the madness on “Para Polaris.” The Luneworks-cut is pure unflinching noise, stop-start beats and ear-splitting “The Holocaust”-style guitar distortion, brought together in the most goosebumps-inducing of unions. 10/10!

SKRILLA – LATELY (FEAT. VELVETEARS) (PROD. TULPA)

Drift off into a narcotics-induced stupor minus the negative side effects with “Lately” by Dallas rapper Skrilla. Produced by BitCandy favorite Tülpa and featuring the enigmatic voice of VELVETEARS, this piano-driven lament is straight up transcendent.

AUTOGRAF – OCEAN GLASS

Is this the most gorgeous Autograf song ever? The Chicago producer trio hit us right in the feels on Future Soup EP-closer “Ocean Glass,” a stunning melodic composition that makes us dream of being adrift at sea and comes packed full of blissful vibes. <3!

PHORIA – EVOLVE

Phoria are quickly becoming masters in left-field pop. As their debut album Volition fast approaches, the British quintet have unveiled “Evolve,” a deeply textured and multisensory opus that builds to a spine-tingling climax. For fans of Radiohead and Aphex Twin!

PLAZA – REASON – CURATOR DUFFSTER

As if we needed further proof Toronto is the current home of FutureSex/LoveSounds, along comes PLAZA. After “Again” and “Wanting You,” the enigmatic PBR&B crooner has delivered yet another dim-the-lights smoothie in the form of “Reason.” The Weeknd who?

SURMA – MAASAI – CURATOR DUFFSTER

Hailing from Portugal comes Surma, who enchants from the off with her debut single. An otherworldly electronic pop reverie that channels everyone from Björk, The xx to Daughter, we recommend losing yourself to “Maasai” during a long walk à la Surma in this video.

LEØ – HOLD ON – CURATOR DUFFSTER

Australian trio LEØ continue to hone their folk-inflected breed of dream pop on their first single of 2016, “Hold On.” Bringing together soft percussion, hypnotic guitar curlicues and the feather-light vocals of Chloe Pilkington, this is music made for lazy spring afternoons.

LUCY ROSE – NEBRASKA – CURATOR DUFFSTER

British thespian and all-round tough guy Danny Dyer takes on the unlikely role of a drag queen in the video for Lucy Rose's breathtaking “Nebraska.” Ghostpoet, Rae Morris and Josef Salvat are the other stars we namechecked in the clip – the best of 2016 so far?

SHOCK MACHINE – SHOCK MACHINE – CURATOR DUFFSTER

After the unspectacular Klaxons comeback in 2014, frontman James Righton returns this year as Shock Machine. On his first single, the British act debuts a promising neo psych-inspired sound complete with a video directed by long-time collaborator Saam Farahmand.

MADI – LOTUS

Madi may be most famous for her collaborations with EDM giants like KSHMR and Felix Snow, but the 17-year-old vocalist proves she can produce too on chilltrap gem “Lotus.” “Made this lil' thing last night when I was in a vulnerable state” writes Madi. “Hope you dig.”

She studies the English language, to be precise. Jess is currently on her way to a degree in the subject, and enjoys starting and never finishing novels, screenplays, and poetry in her spare time. She also likes dogs. Lots of dogs.
