TOP CHILLWAVE SONGS - WEEK 18 2014

4/25/14

Need help getting through these last few days of April? Don't sweat it, as BitCandy is back with a new dose of top chillwave songs to keep you keeping on. Anyways, it's pretty much summer now, so feel free to vibe on this shit at a beach party near you soon. Don't forget, send me a selfie! Big up to the Curators who helped me out with this week's pickings from Faux Tales, Robot Koch, Taylor McFerrin and many more. If you think you've got what it takes to be a Curator, then go and sign up.

ROBOT KOCH AND SUSIE SUH – HERE WITH ME

“Here With Me” has been floating around these parts for a few months now, but Robot Koch and Susie Suh have finaaally announced an official release for May. I'm going to download it and dance around to it in the pouring rain. I'm not, but I want to! Flawless.

ÁSGEIR – HERE IT COMES

It seems like Ásgeir is releasing new shit every week lately, and every week it's more beautiful than the last. My life changed the moment Curator Duffster introduced me to the Icelandic songwriter. It didn't, but it might as well have! Fuck Record Store Day, though.

FAUX TALES – ATLAS

Switzerland producer, Faux Tales, is the most adorable thing ever. “Atlas” is currently blowing up across the blogosphere, and he's flipping OUT about it on his Twitter page! Deservingly blowing up, too. Dubstep has never sounded this god damn pretty to me.

TAYLOR MCFERRIN (FEAT. NAI PALM) – THE ANTIDOTE – CURATOR BECA

Taylor McFerrin is finaaally releasing his debut album, Early Riser, in June. How long have I been waiting dude? Only 3 fucking years! Anyways, it's coming out on Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder, so you already know it's going to be the shit. Dig on the funky lead single.

LÜTHIAN – I WISH (SKEE-LO COVER)

If you never thought Skee-Lo and chillwave could belong in the same sentence, let alone the same song, then think again, bitches. Thanks to Lüthian for making this dream of mine a reality. Whoever the fuck Lüthian is? They only have one other song to their name!

NAVVI – SPEAK

Road trippp! That's what I feel like doing after hearing this song and seeing that artwork. Getting in my car and driving until I can't drive any more. Thing is, I can't drive. It's okay, though, I'm going to hit up Ryan Gosling. He'd dig on Kitsuné's America 3 compilation.

SOPHIA BLACK – OVR AGN

Sophia Black's debut single, “Kissing,” sounded like a Katy Perry song, so it's cool to hear the Los Angeles vocalist drop a more R&B orientated cut. I can definitely vibe on this shit! Anyways, it was produced by Basecamp, so it was always going to be off the charts.

ELLIOT MOSS – SLIP – CURATOR DUFFSTER

Ever wondered what Justin Vernon would sound like if he was a lounge jazz artist? Wonder no more! Elliot Moss is here to satisfy your curiosity. This is fucking delicious. Stop being so talented, Elliot, you're only 19 and giving this cougar an inferiority complex.

SOHN – BLOODFLOWS (TWENTY9 REMIX)

Pitchfork can eat my shit. Did you catch their review of SOHN's debut album? It's cool to have an opinion, but they're a bunch of self righteous, career destroying pricks! Sorry, I got sidetracked. Big up to Twenty9 for this bass heavy take on my favorite Tremors cut.

F ∆ U X E - WE FOUGHT AMONGST THE CLOUDS, HEAVY AND LOUD, WHAT WOULD BECOME OF US

This is some Illuminati type shit right here, you guys. Raise your triangles up to the sky and preach to Queen Bey. Can you feel her spirit overtaking you? Something is overtaking me, anyways! Fuck writing that title out again, though. Fiona Apple is going to be mad.

About Jess Grant

When Jess Grant isn't writing on music, she can be found playing it – on her guitar, on her ukulele, and on her recently acquired mandolin. Playing it hideously, she ought to add. Jess also studies. She studies the English language, to be precise. Jess is currently on her way to a degree in the subject, and enjoys starting and never finishing novels, screenplays, and poetry in her spare time. She also likes dogs. Lots of dogs.
