NEW ARTIST FINDS: ROTANA

3/4/17

There’s nothing more we love at We Are The Guard than to bring you the hottest new indie - pop - female vocalists out there today. It’s a personal thrill to help discover the myriad of strong women making powerful music that haven’t received nearly half the attention they deserve. Rotana is the newest in a long line of badass beautiful woman kicking ass and take names — if taking names actually means writing awesome songs that you can’t get out of your head even if you wanted to.

ROTANA - DADDY

With “Daddy,” The Saudi Arabian singer proves herself as a fierce presence, with an unflinching look at her anger and concerns. She doesn’t hold back and lets it all out. This is something I find incredibly impressive for a first track and new talent. There is so much more confidence in this track than you see from many new vocalists. She doesn’t skirt around the maligned anger and fear and hope that many women face everyday.  Time for us all to start listening.

This one was guarded by Benjamin Groff. Give the head honcho some cred, this is a find and a half.

About Kurt Kroeber

From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
