NEW ARTIST FINDS: MANSIONAIR

2/24/14

From Sydney, Australia comes electronic-indie duo Mansionair. Members Lachlan Bostock and Alex Nicholls seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. They just joined Facebook on January 2nd of this year and already have well over 1,000 likes, and their first and only track so far, “Hold Me Down,” has been on Soundcloud for just over a month and is already creating some serious (and well deserved) buzz.

“Hold Me Down” features the vocals of Jack Froggatt, frontman of fellow Sydney natives Revier. The track is a savory blend of guitar and bass, with electronic elements sprinkled in as the track builds over a simply enchanting six minutes (well, 5 minutes and 57 seconds if you want to be exact). Though it blurs the lines between genres, I would have to say that for fans of artists like Banks, Bonobo, or Flume, this is something you do not want to pass up. And even if that isn’t your thing, don’t take your teacher’s advice and just give in to peer pressure for once in your life -- listen anyway (you want to be cool, don’t you?). I promise, you won’t be disappointed!

If the rest of their material is anything like this first track, I think it’s safe to say that these guys are here to stay and will be making a huge splash in 2014. So be sure to check out their official site and like them on Facebook (they’re still new to the various social networks so show them some love, guys!). And last but not least, I’d like to send many thank you’s to Curator, Jay Ray, for sharing this awesome new find with us!
