New Finds: Industries of the Blind

8/13/12

New Finds: Industries of the Blind.  Written by Jess Grant. Discovered by Dalle00.

“Ethereal” is a painfully exhausted adjective in contemporary music bloggery. But considering Oxford Dictionary define it as meaning “extremely delicate and light in a way that seems not to be of this world,” “ethereal” really does seem the most appropriate descriptive for today's New Find...

Industries of the Blind were formed in 2003 by ten North Carolina neoclassicists -- Sammy, Jamaal, John, Evan, Alice, Liz, Dave, Brett, Katie and Kyle. Having since relocated to New York, last year, the instrumental band dropped their debut album, Chapter 1 - Had We Known Better, a thought-provoking, transcendental three-track (the songs are 10+ mins long) that may just transport you to another, far prettier planet...

Fans of Mono, Godspeed You Black Emperor and Sigus Ros will happily wrap their ears around these ambient, atmospheric sonics. But if you are not a fan of any of those artists... or if the general idea of an instrumental band sends a chill through your spine... well, just try relaxing to Industries of the Blind with a lover and a glass of wine later tonight. THEN get back to me with your thoughts...

You can download Chapter 1 - Had We Known Better for free over at Industries of the Blind's official website. But if you can spare a dime or two, please do donate to the band through the PayPal link, and in turn support the spread of their stunning artistry.

Check out a trailer for Chapter 1 - Had We Known Better, below.
